Why does the touch pad on my laptop only work with my body parts and not with a pen/pencil or heated spoon?
The touch pad is sensitive to a lot of things. First of all, it detects certain pressure points and detects body heat which is around 98 degrees. The pen or pencil will shorten the life of touch pad and it was not designed to detect it just like with PDA's. Software was designed to accept human touch and temperature.
